Huynh Thi Kim-Em, 72

August 15, 1932 – July 06, 2005

 

Huynh Thi Kim-Em, 72, of Bloomington, IN, passed away Wednesday, July 06, 2005, at 11:58pm at her home, while surrounded by her beloved husband of 54 years and her extended family. 

 

Born Aug. 15, 1932, in Kien Giang, Vietnam, she migrated to Bloomington, IN in June 1980 with her beloved family, including her husband, four children, two children-in-law, and one grandchild.  She led her family by love to flee her home country and endured unknown challenges in the vast Pacific Ocean on a small boat.  She also survived the hardships of refugee camps for more than a year in Malaysia and Indonesia.

 

She lived in Bloomington, IN since arrived in June 1980 under the sponsorship of First Presbyterian Church of Bloomington, IN.  She loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren, relatives, and many close friends.  She was a proud parent because of the success of her children and their families in the new country.  She retired in 2001 as seamstress for her son’s business, and enjoyed spending her free time gardening, cooking, and traveling. 

 

She is survived by her husband, Sieu Luong of Bloomington, IN; two sons, Vui Luong of Jacksonville, FL and wife Nga, Thanh (Tony) Luong of Bloomington, IN and wife Tam (Katie); two daughters, Thuy (Kim) Nguyen of Raleigh, NC and husband Tu, Hong (Kim) Nguyen of Indianapolis, IN and husband Donny; an older sister, Kim-Anh Thi Huynh of Toronto, Canada; a younger brother, Thu Ngoc Huynh of Kien Giang, Vietnam; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.   The grandchildren are: Vu, Phil, Nannetta Luong; Thomas, Terry, Teddy Nguyen; Thaddeus, Tiffany Luong; Hannah and Emma Nguyen.  Her great-grandchildren are: Brandyn Back, Veejay Luong, and Katelyn Nguyen.

 

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 9, 2005, at the Valhalla Memory Gardens Cemetery in Bloomington, IN.

 

Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to close on Friday, July 8, 2005 and 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2005, at Day Funeral Home in Bloomington, IN.
