Vovinam Washington's newly elected Executive Officers

During the entire month of October, the Vovinam-Viet Vo Dao Association of Washington, USA initiated and completed its election campaign for a new Board of Executive Officers for the term 2002-2004. On November 24, 2001, the new officers had been sworn into offices. We are pleased to introduce the new Executive Officers for Vovinam-Viet Vo Dao Washington 2002-2004

President: Son Hai Hong Nguyen (Yellow Belt I). He began to help Master and Instructors to teach basic techniques for new students when he was just blue belt II. Son Hai is the Chief Instructor of Vovinam Tacoma. He has invested a substantial amount of time and energy working to strengthen and improve Vovinam WA. He has an exemplary attitude and is a strong role model. He is also one of the ten cabinet members of Tacoma Community College VSA.

Vice-President of External Affairs: Bao Quoc Lam (Yellow I). He is a first year college student at Tacoma Community College (TCC), and also an officer of VSA at TCC. He is trained to become a Big brother of the Vietnamese Sacred Heart Church in Tacoma. He also earned a red-black belt in Taekwondo. He hopes and wants to contribute his skills and knowledge to promote Vovinam-Viet Vo Dao of Washington.

Vice-President of Internal Affairs: Lisa Trujillo (Yellow Belt I). She teaches English part time at Tacoma Community College and reading literature full-time at Green River Community College, where she is on the Multicultural and Equity Council. She has BA and MA degrees and K-12 certification for teaching. She has been a member of Vovinam WA since winter 1997. She has participated numerous demonstrations for the community & for fund-raising. She came with experience in Taekwondo ( 2nd degree black belt.) She works well with people from different socio-economic and cultural backgrounds. She is able to provide a different perspective due to her own cultural, gender, and educational level. She has worked with youth, both in martial arts and in the juvenile justice system. She has done workshops for drug awareness for teens and Anti-Bias Leadership for graduate students.

General Secretary: Hoai Nguyen (Black Belt). She has had a great leadership experience being Vice President of her middle school. She did a lot of things involving her school, such as requests to fundraising. She went to a leadership camp, to expand her knowledge with her position in the ASB. She is a drummer of Lion dance team.

Co-Treasurer: Tam Ngon Dac Phung (Black Belt). He has been in Vovinam-WA for over 4 years. Now he is the head of the Lion Dance Team. He has been very active in Vovinam by participating in many Vovinam tournaments. He has shown himself to be a both a good Vovinam instructor and Lion Dance instructor. He has exhibited his dedication to Vovinam WA through these actions.

Co-Treasurer: Michael Phi Tran (Blue Belt III). Michael began to practice Vovinam in the summer of 1999 with Master Tuan Anh. He wants to contribute his skills and abilities for developing of Vovinam WA.

Officer: Yung Thi Dam (Black Belt). She helps to teach lower belt level, and participates in almost activities of Vovinam WA. She hopes to contribute her skills for Vovinam-WA.

Officer: Duy Do Thanh Huynh (Black Belt). He has been a member of Vovinam WA for 5 years. During this time he has participated in many demonstrations. He helps instruct the lower belts in class.
